Socials

Hello again, welcome to another blog, forgive me for the gaps in transmission which may still be apparent as the catch-up time I had scheduled has been havoically wrecked by my workload. As it increases the pressure expands into my writing time (bigtime) but here we are.

Now I do realise that this blog may be another career limiting set of words as I start to speak about my reduced time spent on socials and what that may mean. This is because the current work ethic of the grind is to post, comment and share constantly, this is supposedly to realise all your full potential, alas that unfortunately takes a lot of time, time that currently has need to be spent elsewhere.

This is nothing new, I’ve left social platforms before, especially when they get less social. I came off Facebook a number of years ago, as I needed to free myself up from the constant grind it had become. That was a relief, although occasionally I did feel that I’m missing out on some things but the stuff I’ve gained has been great.

More recently I was slowly starting to revisit my Twitter habit, loved the site at the beginning, enjoyed the people I followed but slowly the toxic masses seemed to seep into every aspect, add in the recent debates about ownership, free speech and all that associated stuff has resurfaced, I’ve started to steer away again.

This just leaves Instagram, where I have my research account and my NathanPhoto profile, both act as a space where I can occasionally share work, mainly see work and observe patterns of images posted. But with its prominent switch to video and some sort of algorithm anomaly that has been applied to the site, it culminates in an adverse effect of my enjoyment of the site, so I’ve also started a course steering away from that.

One social thing I’ve kept up with is blogging, possibly be seen as an echo chamber but I’m doing it, as this post will testify to but what next? Return to Facebook? Look at Tumblr again? Neither of these are very kind to photography so possibly not. Think the plan is to keep up this here with the posting of pictures and words as the place where you can mainly find me and hopefully someone will set up a Twitter/Instagram alternative that will fulfil my social needs in the coming months. I think this is a subject that may require more posts and thoughts so possibly look out me returning to this subject.

Now for a picture, I recently had the great opportunity to go to Paris for a weekend now this is the birthplace of the flaneur so had a little wander, rediscovering my inner flaneur/Parisian/street vibes in the birthplace. I came out with a myriad of shots, in particular this beautiful NathanPhoto example. A nice classic image in my opinion.

Sun peeks over a rooftop illuminating the classic lampposts of Paris with a blue sky and a few clouds dotted around.

As ever thank you for reading, thank you for your time and any comments, questions or feedback then please get me via the usual channels

Thank You.
